Cookie That Make Your Wish Come True

I recently finished watching Twinkling Watermelon and you probably know who I have a crush on. Of course, it's Choi Hyunwook.. he's too handsome, so charismatic yet so cute. I hate myself like this, if i like someone whether he's an actor, singer, or 2D character I get a little obsessed with them. All I think about in my day it's just that and I refuse to wake up from reality. Man, I wish that habit gone but I can't help myself. So anyway, I was just looking at X and found out that Choi Hyunwook will play another drama called 'High Cookie'. The Twinkling Watermelon just ended and I need something that fills out the huge hole in my heart caused by missing Choi Hyunwook. Even though I didn't really like thriller stuff but for my bae Hyunwook I will watch everything lol.

As I was watching this show it tells you about life in high society high school where grade will determine your rank in class. In their seat, a number will tell you each student's rank. The top 10 students will have a different class called the 'S' class. The story begins with a girl named Choi Min-young that showed as a girl who always wears a mask and underneath it, there is a big scar horizontally across her nose. She comes from a poor family and they show that she has a sister called Choi Su-young who's been applying for so many factory jobs despite being so young. But Choi Min-young unexpectedly has so much money and she starts to buy his sister a lot of stuff making her sister feel skeptical about it. It turns out that Choi Min-young is selling this 'Cookie' to the student secretly, and the cookies cost about 3 million won each. What makes the cookie cost that much is that when you eat it you'll feel the dream that you've always had come in front of you. Basically, the Cookie is a drug that makes you forget about reality and hallucinate about what makes you happier at that time. The students use that cookie before they study and imagine that they can solve all of the questions in front of them and eventually help them in real life.

Choi Hyunwook's character is introduced next, he's playing a guy called Seo Ho-Su who is really timid, shy, and such a pushover. Ho-Su is the third rank out of this school and Min-young is the sixth rank. Min-young told Ho-Su to pretend to be her boyfriend because her sister thinks that Min-young is not happy in their school because of her scar which makes her insecure. Choi Su-young is portrayed as a sister character who always felt guilty about her sister's scar because of their abusive father. The cause of Min-young's scar was that their father locked and beat them up when they were a child. So-young at that time tried to call the police and turns out that their father knew and ended up hurting Mi-young and leaving a scar that haunts Min-young until now.

Choi Su-young will do everything for her sister as her happiness doesn't matter at all. She didn't finish high school and didn't go to college. She sacrificed her life to make Min-young happy and make a good living as she thought that she also had to pay for her sister's high school and college later. But what she doesn't know is that her sister is a 'Cookie' dealer who has a lot of money more than she ever has. Choi Min-young also knows that her sister feels sorry for her and she also doesn't want to become a burden to her sister. So she sent a picture to her sister saying she had a boyfriend who loved her the way she was and that 'boyfriend' was Ho-Su.

There are a lot of plot twists along the way from episode 8 to the very end. All I can say is this series is fun and exciting to watch because of its fast-paced plot. I think one episode is about 28-35 minutes long and it has 20 episodes. The director knows how to make an edge-of-the-seat show so viewers are eager to watch the next episodes. Although the story actually is pretty dark, it knows how to balance it well so after you watch the show you don't feel tired mentally just like any other thriller show. The story is great even though it's not my favorite. I think the ending is pretty fitting cause it sums up the moral of the story so it felt okay.

What I like the most about this series is the character development. You never know what's going to happen to a certain character in the future so, the first impression of the character didn't matter at all. The character is also very realistic. There's no consider to be a 'Good' or 'Bad' character cause they are supposed to be a human who has needs, greed, obligation, and all of that. Of course, my favorite character is Ho-Su not because Choi Hyunwook (is it? lol) but because you get a plot twist that Ho-Su's character is not just a timid, shy boy but more but I can't tell the details because of spoilers. The acting is top-tier, seriously after watching Twinkling Watermelon  I see no resemblance whatsoever between Yi Chan's (Choi Hyunwook's character in Twinkling Watermelon) and Ho-Su's character. I see completely different people and if you don't know Choi Hyunwook you probably think that they are played by different actors.

Anyway, if you like thriller edge-of-seat fun show that is light to watch I recommend you this. The story it self is interesting and left you wondering what's going to happen next. If you like Choi Hyunwook, you also have to see this, cause you'll see one of the peak acting of his career. You'll see another different face that you probably never saw in Choi Hyunwook.

So, that's my review of the day hope you like it.
