Pewdiepie not Being The Biggest Youtuber Anymore

A little background story, i actually grew up watching Pewdiepie since 11 or 12 years old. Youtube was pretty underground back then compare to now obviously. And how i found out about Pewdiepie is actually from this Line's game called Line Play and i remember it being the trending game that all my friends playing it at that time. I became friends with this girl that i met throughout this Line Play and she wanted to make a guild with me. And i am like sure why not, and the name that she pick for the guild was called the Bro Army. And yes, Bro Army is actually Pewdiepie's fandom name that i didn't know back then and she encouraging me to watch Pewdiepie. And little that i know i fall in the rabbit hole of not just Pewdiepie but the world of Youtube as well.

Youtube at that time is so different compare to now. Back then, Youtube is so simple, it's just a creator and a camera doing vlogs, skits, tutorial, chatting, ect. There were rarely a youtube channel that consist of production team and doing all that crazy stuff because back then mostly it's just an individual or team. Back then i would watch Ryan Higa, Smosh, Jenna Marbels, Rosanna Pansino and what they're doing was making a video as an individual creator and you can clearly see creativy being the core sense of Youtube at that time cause these youtubers was all doing something different focusing on their brand and personalities. And for now things are so much different, cause every youtuber chasing the algorithm and doing what's trending at the time and that is why Youtube is kinda loss their touch of what makes youtube, Youtube i guess.

Pewdiepie is actually becoming the most subscribe creator on youtube since 2013 until 2019, until T-Series appear. T-Series is basically a channel that consist of the music video that made in India which is basically like a corporation. And at that time there is actually a war behind it, and i think it's pretty funny. Cause T-Series becoming bigger and bigger by the number of subscriber and you know they're gonna surpass Pewdiepie if it continue. Out of nowhere comes this Youtuber that help this youtube meme war that actually a fan of Pewdiepie and little that we know he's going to be the next thing that's gonna take over Youtube and i'm sure you guys know him as well, it's Mr. Beast.

I know Pewdiepie started this meme war as a joke and he's probably didn't even care if T-series passing him anyway, but since Mr. Beast help him to gain more subscriber so he doesn't actually lose in kinda extreme way, many people know about it and actually invested in this subscriber war. I think what's gotten people invested in this war is because Youtube is made or at least started for individual creators and not corporation. And when people know that the most subscribe channel on youtube was going to be taken by a corporation was a sign that youtube is shifting towards less and less creator like. Creators what makes youtube and i know people who love watching youtube since a long time ago probably didn't like that. But it's just how it is now.

And as i mention earlier, youtube's always changing. Back then when things are simpler because they look up to Pewdiepie as a creator who play game  being funny and interacting with fans with just that. And now, people like to see and amazed by stuff that are crazy and that's why Mr. Beast slowly and steady surpass Pewdiepie as the most subscribe "individual" creator in Youtube. And now you see a lot lookalike Mr. Beast kinda style video that consist of doing this extreme high budget, big scale stuff cause they know that's the kinda video that gets views.

Youtuber chasing this youtube algorithm and i know there is nothing wrong with that. But, i do miss the simpler time in youtube when the only thing they have is just them and the camera. They did they own thing because it's what they love and kinda build community around it. It's so much diversity and kinda wholesome back then cause i got so much memory by watching them talking and doing something that they love.

Yeah, it's my little opion about the changes of youtube that's happening these past year, i do hope Youtube become more and more creator like, and youtubers didn't have to chase the algorithm to make good views so we've got a lot more diverse content that are popular and trending. And for Pewdiepie, i hope you just keep doing what you love to do and the make the content you wanted to without losing what makes you Pewdiepie and enjoy your new life in Japan i guess lol, anyways i always support you.

Ay, you know what to to.. Brofist!
